Kinja'd!!!

So I have been thinking about getting a Razer Core. I shove 2 AMD RX480 in Crossfire and I’m good to go right? But there’s also the problem of buying an Alienware with graphics amp. I get a discount on dells as my Moms a teacher (an A-ware 17 R3 usually costs 2 grand, I get it for 1700). But I kind of want the Core as I can use it with ANY computer that has T Bolt 3. PLS HALP OPPO

Have some Soft-shell Crabs for your time.

I thought the Razer core only supported one GPU? You also need a laptop not only with the right Thunderbolt connector, but one which accepts an external video input via that Thunderbolt connector - and very few laptops these days actually have those requirements.

Core only supports one GPU.

The real question is how much you actually travel. Are you going to haul around the core with you everywhere? $500 is a lot for a box that hold’s a GPU. Here’s what I am doing right now, see if it tickles your fancy. I did this for different reasons, but it may work for you too. I built a decent gaming desktop. I have ESX installed on that machine and am virtualizing my gaming desktop. I then connect with my cheap laptop to this virtual desktop and do all my gaming that way. If you have the proper resources you can actually have multiple users on the gaming rig. If you have multiple video cards you can assign each user their own card. You could build the server for the price of the Core and it would work with ANY computer, including Macs and Linux machines. The footprint would be a little larger, but there are some good cases for Mini ATX boards.

The discrete GPU’s in the Alienware’s aren’t horrible by any means.

Indeed, buy something like this and several SSDs and video cards, run ESXi for several machines and you’re set.

You don’t even need that much. My original test machine was a Phenom II x3 (with the fourth core unlocked), 4GB of ram, ssd, and a HD 7950. My wife and I were able to use it for most games. We played the Overwatch beta at 1080p on medium and both had 45fps at the lowest. We both ran Rocket League, Skyrim, and CS:GO very well too.
